Derby Time!

Every year my uncle Arnold hosts an annual derby contest. This year Jase and I ventured out and made our own derby cars. This is what we came up with...

We have...

"Ruby Zoom" and "Diet Coke"

For those of you who don't know Jase, he is addicted to Diet Coke. He always has one in his hand. His favorite gifts to get, for any occasion, are 12-packs of Diet Coke. The only problem with this is I'm becoming addicted as well. Gotta love the Diet Coke.

"Ruby Zoom" is a red high heel. Just as Jase loves Diet Coke, I love shoes. This is definitely my kind of a derby car.

Even though our cars came no where near winning the contest, we had a great time and look forward to next year. If anyone has any good ideas for a derby car, let me know!

Camping

Our first camping adventure was great! A couple weekends ago Jase and I camped up Logan canyon with the Hyde's, Brown's, Thomas', Jackson's, Ben, and Toph. Even though it rained all day, we managed to have a great time. We lucked out and only had a few drops of rain, until we woke up to it pouring. Luckily, my wonderful husband had prepared us with 20 degree sleeping bags so we stayed pretty warm.

Ali, I had to copy this picture of the
"Team huddle on how to build a campfire"
from your blog. It's hillarious!

Fire! Finally!
Check out Jase's hot dog stick he carved. He did pretty good!

Our cute little 2 person tent!

We have the greatest friends and always have so much fun together! Thanks guys! We can't wait for St. George!

Quick Update...
It's been a while since the last time I posted. Due to the fact that Jase and I are in summer school for the next 4 weeks, our free time has become greatly limited and our nights are consumed with homework! We did get to enjoy a week break between semesters, which was really nice. Both of us will be done with school before we know it! It will be very exciting. A couple weeks ago we started the biggest project ever... we've been mudding and sanding our garage which unfortunately is taking forever! Neither one of us know what we're doing so hopefully the finished project turns out okay. I have to admit Jase has totally impressed me with his texturing skills. He's become a pro! Jase's little sister got married last weekend in the Salt Lake Temple. The wedding was perfect and Whitney looked beautiful... as always! We are so happy for the newlywed couple and wish them the very best. There's nothing better than being married to your very best friend. Whit's become one of my best buds this last year. Growing up I always dreamed of having sisters. My brothers got married and gave me 4 awesome "big sisters." Since I'm the youngest in my family it's been so much fun to finally be the "big sister" and watch Whitney date and fall in love.
Life is busy, but great! We are sunbeam teachers in our ward and we love it. Any free time we get is usually spent with family, a few friends, and each other. Oh yeah... the landscaping crew is supposed to start our yard this week... Yay! I'll post pics as soon as they start. Hope everyone is doing well!!!

Happy 1 Year Anniversary!

It's hard to believe one year has passed since Jase and I were married in the Salt Lake Temple. That was the best day of my life. Wait... it was the beginning of the best days of my life! I can't believe how much I love this kid! He makes me so happy and I can't imagine life without him. He is the best husband in the world! He is such a hard worker and does everything he can to support our little family.

Two thoughts come to my mind as I think back on the past twelve months of married life.
One: It's nothing like the movies
Two: It's harder but so much better than I ever imagined

I don't think anyone can be completely prepared for marriage. That's what makes being married so much fun! You get to learn and grow together. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world... I married my very best friend and everyday we grow so much closer to eachother. This past year has been filled with countless blessings for the both of us. We are so thankful for our life together.
We've been in Salt Lake all weekend celebrating. It was nothing big but perfect for the occasion. Lots of shopping, eating, swimming, and just being together. The traditional one year anniversary gift is paper... so Jase, being the clever person he is, gave me money! What a perfect "paper gift" wouldn't ya say? It was nice to get away even though it was just to Salt Lake. We are so thankful we got to spend the time together with no WORK or SCHOOL! I was so excited to take pictures and video record our first anniversary. But when I pulled out the camera it was dead and I had no battery charger... Just my luck.

I think I could go on and on about the reasons I love Jase, there are millions... but I guess what it all boils down to is that he's my best friend and there's no one else I'd rather spend my life with. Happy Anniversary babe! I look forward to celebrating many many more with you!

I love you so much!

Viva Mexico!

This past week Jase and I have been sipping back on lots of pina coladas and sun tanning on the beautiful beaches of Mexico! We left the freezing cold weather of Cache Valley 2 days after Christmas, along with Jase's family, and headed off to sunny and warm Playa del Carmen, Mexico! This was my first time at the Caribbean and I loved it! We were about 45 minutes away from Cancun. If you haven't been to Playa del Carmen, you should go! It was awesome!

This is the house we stayed at. It had a beautiful backyard with a swimming pool, hammack, and gazebos. There was a huge bannana tree too! It was the perfect place to stay!

I thought these pieces of fruit were pretty sweet. They were so cheap and yummy!

We went to a resort called Xcaret. This was by far our favorite place we visited. We snorkled, saw dolphins, went down an underground river, and just layed on the beach. It was absolutely beautiful. And the weather was perfect. It's too bad we had to come home to freezing cold weather.

Another beautiful beach in Playa del Carmen

One of the days we traveled about 3 hours away to a place called Chichen Itza. It's one of the 7 wonders of the world. On the way our taxi driver stopped at this cenote. He talked about it the whole way there so we had to see what it was all about. It's a huge hole in the ground filled with water. Jase and his dad decided they would jump in.

The main temple at Chichen Itza. Yes, it is one of the more impressive pyramids in the world.

We had so much fun in Mexico. We were so sad to come home, especially after being in 85 degree weather for a week. But we hope everyone had a wonderful christmas and we wish you a happy new year!
